So I've been approaching online dating much like I approach a job hunt. Namely -- set parameters, but look at all the options even if they don't fit my parameters (and by looking at these options verify the importance of said parameters), send messages to anything that looks potentially fun or interesting, and promptly forget about them. Expect nothing, AND FOR GOODNESS SAKE DO NOT SIGN UP TO KNOW WHEN THEY READ THE MESSAGE. THAT WAY LIES MADNESS.

It's given me very few results, possibly because I sometimes send messages like, "The tie in that photo is fascinating," and "Are you in fact a successful goat farmer?" and "I guess that means I'm pretty cute, huh?" Well, if it's going to work out he needs a sense of humor!

However, the send-and-forget method of casting the net wide-ish was a good call, because the other day the first guy I ever sent a "flirt" to ugh ugh hate that term uncleeeeeeean messaged me back, like, a month after my message. Just like a job application! I had to refresh my memory because I'd completely forgotten he existed, but.... daaaang, boy is cute. And composes music. Plays cello.

He's a truck driver, so he's not in town a lot, but he's coming back through town this weekend and wants to know when our church starts. And gave me his number to text him! So, I may be meeting this guy pretty soon? And will most likely be starting to text him? !!! This is after a handful of messages back and forth on the website, so I'm... kinda surprised, to be honest! But he's coming by church, not by my house. Church is actually a pretty sensible safe neutral meeting ground. I like it!

So yeah, I'll let you know how that one turns out!

Happy New Year! 2013 was good. 2014 will be better. It's already shaped up to be interesting -- this morning I used a neti pot for the first time. I should make "try new things" one of my resolutions, 'cause I've already got started. (By the way, it feels like drowning in a pool, but at least my sinuses are a lot more breathable than they were.)

But I just feel... good about the year. I went and saw The Secret Life of Walter Mitty today, because I knew I'd love it and it seemed like the perfect movie to start off a new year. I took my dogs for a long walk. Maybe I'll move back to Utah this year, maybe I won't. Maybe I'll love the new position I'm supposedly moving into in February, maybe I won't, maybe they'll change their minds last minute and I won't get it after all and that's why they don't want me to talk to my coworkers about it.

What I do know is that I'm going to see one of my best friends get married in a few weeks, and I'm going to Phoenix Comic Con, and I'm going to turn 31 and be done with young single adults wards forever. And all of those are glorious things. I have a bunch of new books to read, another new cd to listen to after this one, and a link to the first episode of Sherlock season three. Life is good, and we are blessed.

This would be a wonderful Elisa Maza jacket. Unfortunately, I am not a size 12.

Weeping forever.

wears a BOMBER JACKET. How did I never realize her jacket was a bomber jacket? Oh right, because I've been fashion-oblivious for my entire life.

HOKAY. Searching for a red bomber jacket (that will fit me) with notched lapels and diagonal pockets (what are those called, slit pockets?)

I keep thinking of Arda's Buttercup in black for her hair but it would sort of be ridiculous to own three of the same wig in different colors. There must be something better somewhere.

Ahhhh I have missed you so much, Bad Machinery. And Ryan! Ryan Beckwith, if you weren't already married, I swear.

In other news, we have doubled our cat count in the last week. Temporarily. Christin found a mama cat and four kittens, and we're just taking care of them until they're weaned and adoptable. So yeah, officially way too many animals in this house.

FHE swimming tonight! I love swimming. I want to swim more, it makes me feel all twirly and graceful.

My dogs are really needy cuddly lately, almost as if I'm leaving them for eight hours every day.

Well, obviously I am, but it's not like this is a new development. I wonder what's changed recently to make them so lovey?

Happy Pi(e) Day, by the way!

Tonight we drugged Boss, then shaved his butt. It looked raggedy-hilarious, but at least the mats are gone. Good gracious, he is a hairy beast.

I am apparently not to be trusted with clippers, and useless at holding an animal still. At least I'm pretty good at breaking up dog treats and slowly feeding them to a dog to distract him. We all have our part to play.
